Shop Generators for Saab in Saint Paul MN

It can be pretty expensive, replacing the generator (alternator) in a Saab vehicle. For parts alone, you're usually looking at $480 to $650, and for an otherwise $600 to $800 bill (the rest of the cost is labor). That's just on average! Expenses can be worse when quality's a problem, too, like with aftermarket generators.

Luckily, you don't have to worry about either. You've come to the right place to get a good one. Shop with us; you'll see why Saab drivers across the US actually prefer us to other parts stores.

Why Buy from Countryside Volkswagen?

Saab quality. Our generators are genuine OEM -- pure Swedish craftsmanship excellence. What you get will be up to the standards you're used to. Same with the many parts that run one, and same with everything under the hood that one helps run. Order with confidence.

A compatibility guarantee. What you get is what will fit. Just be sure to select your model year and model in our catalog: what'll work in your car or SUV will show up. That gets rid of any guesswork on fitment.

Affordability. Of the few dealers still sell Saab parts, many mark up -- usually, to MRSP, and sometimes, even higher. Your ride deserves the best; you shouldn't have to pay premium prices to get it. Start browsing, and you'll see just how low our prices are, and how much you can save, right away.

Warranty support. No Saab generator should be defective. You won't have to worry about that either way; we include manufacturer warranty coverage against it. An aftermarket generator -- it usually doesn't, and if it does, it's little more than a return policy.

Generators 101

What a generator does. It converts mechanical energy, or the movement of parts, into electrical energy, namely, electricity. This charge powers a vehicle's battery and runs its electrical systems -- the power windows, the lights and displays on the dashboard, the windshield wipers, the power steering, and all the electronics, for example.

How generators work. The engine, a belt, a pulley, a rotor shaft, and ultimately, magnetic coils work together to produce AC power. A rectifier on the generator transforms it into DC power.

The causes of generator failure. Usually, installing incompatible accessories, jump-starting your vehicle wrong, or just plain worn or damaged parts. Even an overtightened belt can be the cause.

The signs a generator is going bad. They include generator warning and battery indicator lights on the dash, lighting and electronics problems, a dead battery, a burning smell under the hood, a generator fluid leak, and a squealing engine.

When to replace a generator. That depends on a thorough inspection and a charging system test. Usually, it's every 7 years, or every 80,000 to 150,000 miles.
